Born in 2005 in Nagpur, India, Divya Deshmukh began playing chess at age 6 and quickly established herself as one of India's most promising talents. She won her first World Youth Championship at age 9 in 2014 (U10 Girls) and added another world title in 2017 (U12 Girls). Divya became a Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2021 and International Master (IM) in 2023 before achieving the full Grandmaster title in 2025 by winning the Women's World Cup.

Divya is known for her aggressive, tactical style and exceptional endgame technique. Her 2024 was particularly remarkable - winning the World Junior Girls Championship, earning two gold medals at the Chess Olympiad (team and board 3), and becoming Asian Continental Women's Champion.
